Bio

S. Conley

“I create art as a way to wrestle with life. The images I make are snapshots of my deepest inner faith, thoughts and dreams. The people depicted are often representations of broad sections of culture. Objects, animals and landscapes can suggest God, struggle, or even desire. I use these symbols to create a story that is representative of the world around me.
I enjoy relating the meaning of most of my work, but I also enjoy when the viewer deciphers the work for themselves, for we form on our own opinions in our encounters with each other, why not in art as well?
I began to seriously study art at a young age. I consider my art education to be an unending process . My studio is currently in East Nashville, where I live, work and play.”
